Holiday Help? Body Shapers

The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is a challenging one for those trying to stay trim. There are so many parties, dinners, cookies! Did I mention food! food! and food? I, for one have been challenged. Take for example, the open house party I attended last night, with other artists, to showcase my jewelry. It was a catered event, with bottles of wine galore and it was difficult, to put it mildly, not to graze at the food table over a four hour period of time! Next on the agenda? My husband's work party this weekend at The Cleveland Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which I am highly excited about. The menu is sure to be wonderful and so I will try to save my eating that day for the party. The next night? A casual party at a friend's house which is sure to have my downfall: any kind of dip or appetizer!

So what is my topic for today's post? Body Shapers! Readers, do you own them and wear them? I definitely think that they can be a closet essential,at least one kind or another, especially in the case of a "clothing emergency". For example, if that dress you haven't worn in a couple of years suddenly hugs your body in the wrong places. There are so many different kinds of shapers to choose from (and they are not your mother's girdle!) There are upper body shapers for stomach and love handles, lower body shapers for hips, butt and thighs, and whole body shapers. Take your pick based on your problem area.
I tend to like the shaper tights that give you that extra support when you need it. BUT, as was my experience once, if you buy one that is too tight, it will bother you all night. You need to find one that feels more natural. Yes, it will be a little constricting because it is doing the job of "shaping" you, but it's not worth it if it's killing you! I have only worn shapers for special occasion events, but I know some ladies who like wearing them daily.

The shapers shown below are all from QVC, from the Spanx and Legacy brands. Legacy has some good two for one price deals all for around $20. Spanx tend to be more expensive. For example, their full body slip, shown below is $72. But Spanx is also the industry standard right now and is said to be a good brand. Readers, what brands do you wear?
